If you want to, you can plug in an external hard drive and go crazy. Step 3: Adding a thumb driveĪs mentioned, you have plenty of options for adding hard drive space to your Raspberry Pi. If your SD card is big enough, you can set up Sync and have your always-on Sync device….but why stop there? Lets add a thumb drive so that we can have more space. You can find the IP address for your RasPi by opening terminal and typing in: ifconfigĪt this point, you can stop right here. You can access the web GUI by opening a browser and typing in :8888/gui. Sync is now up and running on your tiny Raspberry Pi. Save this file in the newly created ~/.config/autostart as: sktop The contents of the text document need to be as follows: Įxec=/home/pi/rslsync -webui.listen 0.0.0.0:8888

A thumb drive (I like using this for its low profile). If you have a DIY attitude and aren’t afraid of a few terminal commands, then read on to learn about how I did it. Just for kicks, I’m also using Owncloud (open source) to provide me with a web interface for accessing my files from any computer, including my mobile phone. To solve this problem, I’m using a Raspberry Pi as a low power, always-on device with Sync installed. There is the occasional scenario however, where I’ve wanted to grab a few files, but my other machine is turned off. I’ve been using it for syncing several gigabytes of RAW photos and video across my various machines. In a nutshell, it allows you to sync folders between machines using P2P. If you don’t know about it, you can read all about it in this cloud server tutorial. When Resilio released Resilio Sync, I decided to see what kind of options I had for using the program with my Raspberry Pi. Every once in a while I’ll take it out and tinker around with it. I'm wondering if this is related.I’ve had a Raspberry Pi lying around the house for a few months now. The closes similar issue I've seen is that some folks are having trouble with Qsync since the latest firmware update. I migrated the drives from the 251 to the 451D2 and from the 269L to the 251 using this method. Previously, the 251 was the local server and the remote server was a 269L. I haven't needed to be logged into the remote server's Resilio for quite some time, so I'm not sure how long it hasn't been working. However, it has been a few years since I needed to access the remote Resilio UI, and when I tried to log into the remote server's Resilio UI this weekend to set up some new pairs, after I clicked on the Resilio app, a new tab opened as expected, but then I got a timeout error and Resilio's log in popup never appears. I periodically check to make sure the pairs are still synced, and the app has consistently been working and synching, even after system migrations. This allowed me to be able to be logged into Resilio on both servers at the same time to easily set up or change sync pairs. In the past, I was able to access the Resilio UI after logging into the remote server either directly via DDNS or thru MyQnapCloud. We use Resilio to sync our respective data folders to provide each other offsite backup. I have two QNAPs, one at my house and one at my father's house.
